What is the Railway Development Fund?
This year alone we are expecting to spend tens of thousands of pounds just on track materials to ensure our track is up to standard and we can operate our services. For a railway which at its heart is a charity, this can present an extremely difficult situation. This is all compounded by current rising costs on coal, insurance and various other maintenance.
As such we are ‘relaunching’ our Railway Development Fund, fit for a railway looking towards the next 50 years. As well as securing the railway’s rising costs, we look to spend money raised in the fund on completing our fencing project around the station car park in a heritage Midland style. Then looking to the future, having money banked for Bitton Yard remodelling, a future sidings project and any line restoration, extending the current operating line.
Why we need your help!
The railway is constantly looking at new avenues to raise vital funds to help secure the future of the railway, however this primarily falls to fundraising. We want to make the relaunched Railway Development Fund our campaign of our 50th Anniversary Year, giving us the required boost for the future we desperately need now.
